Municipal Pharmacies in and around Bologna are directly linked to the local health authority's automated booking system for a series of healthcare services and visits. You simply have to go along to the special desk at the local pharmacy with your health card and general practitioner's prescription and fix date, time and place. Any co-payments due can also be settled directly with the Pharmacy. Bookable services include:
 
  • specialist healthcare services provided by the National Health Service or accredited private facilities;
  • healthcare services provided by national health service practitioners licensed to accept private patients;
  • private visits at private healthcare facilities.

From Monday to Friday:
8.30 a.m. to 12 a.m.
3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturdays:
8.30 a.m. to 12 a.m.


 
This service is also available in Parma and San Giovanni Valdarno.
 
Pronto Salute
 
This is a free home-delivery service for Bologna and province made available to
Special-needs groups such as the house-bound elderly, the disabled etc. 24 hours service, every day with delivery of medicines and healthcare-related items.
 
 
 
 
 
How the service works:
  • Dial the Free Phone no 800-547454
  • Calls are answered by a pharmacist who will activate the service on verifying that you qualify for the special service and are in possession of a doctor's prescription, if the medicine you need requires one.
  • Volunteers with the Italian 'Public Croce Italia' will come to your home, collect the prescription and take it to the nearest open pharmacy.
  • Delivery times are as follows:
    Between 12 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. for all special-needs customers qualifying for the Free Home Delivery Service.Within 3 hours at night or during holidays for all emergencies.
  • CARDS indicating the Free Phone Number are available at Municipal Pharmacies in the city and province of Bologna.

In many Municipal Pharmacies operated by ADMENTA Italia, numerous, high-precision diagnostic tests are available:
  • Blood Sugar
    The amount of sugar in the blood
  • Total Cholesterol
  • HDL Cholesterol
  • Triglycerides
    These are natural fats or their by-products, excessive quantities of which in the blood are a risk factor for cardiovascular disease.
  • Hematocrit
    The percentage of the whole blood volume occupied by the red cells. This is particularly important in expectant mothers.
  • Haemoglobin
    The substance in red blood cells that contains iron and transports oxygen to the body's tissues. Lower than normal haemoglobin counts may indicate anaemia.
  • Erythrocytes (Red Blood Cells)
    These are the corpuscles that contain haemoglobin whose task is to transport oxygen from the air in the lungs to the body's tissues and likewise eliminate carbon dioxide, the waste product of cellular respiration.
